Can I butt these panels against each other to create a completely covered surface?

  • This is not recommended because the separation allows the sides of the panel to also absorb sound, which maximizes each panel’s effectiveness and improves the aesthetics of the treatment. Placing panels closer together than 3” creates a crowded look and a less appealing “seam.”
  • Also, rarely does a given wall require that much treatment to achieve the desired affect. Why spend more money on panels that are not needed? When properly spaced, fewer panels will do the job.
  • If you feel you must install panels in a close fit or touching-the-next-panel manner, please contact us for further tips or possible alternatives to ensure the best possible results for your space.

What’s the difference between standard and angled impaling clips?

Straight impaling clips can be used with panels of any size. Angled impaling clips are only suitable for standard-sized panels (up to 48″ x 24.”)

Standard impaling clips require Loctite Power Grab Adhesive and screws and adhesive are sold separately. Angled impaling clips do not require adhesive and screws are included.

Both standard and angled impaling clips are designed for vertical mounting applications. For ceiling or non-vertical mounting applications, please use our Rotofast™ Snap-on anchor system.

What if my order is damaged?

On rare occasions, packages can arrive damaged. Our products are fragile and carriers can make mistakes. Acoustics America is on your side and wants to provide full assistance if this happens.

Please review the “Shipping” section of our terms and conditions, for the necessary steps to take should you discover that your shipment has arrived in damaged condition.

What is LTL Freight shipping?

LTL Freight shipping means your products will be delivered by a large freight truck and cannot be unloaded by hand. Freight trucks will require a loading dock to offload the shipment.

If you do not have a loading dock, liftgates are included with all orders up to 72″ in length. LTL shipping also drops the shipment outside at your curb. The driver does not deliver the pallet to your door and does not take the shipment inside for you.

All orders with product longer than 48” and wider than 24” will be shipped via LTL. To avoid LTL freight shipping charges, select smaller panels or clouds no longer than 48″ in length and no wider than 24″ in width.

Can I paint your panels?

No, our fabrics are not designed to be painted. There are specialty fabrics and acoustically transparent specialty paints available on the market today.  Due to the high cost compared to fabric-wrapped panels, and in our opinion, limited benefit, we do not offer these products.

Our focus is on offering products that live up to our motto, “minimizing noise and maximizing value.”

What’s the difference between ceiling clouds and mounting a panel on the ceiling?

A ceiling cloud is designed to be suspended from the ceiling. Clouds are typically suspended 6″ to 3 feet or more from the ceiling, depending on room height and user preference. Cloud-side eye hooks are included. Customer supplies the upper ceiling mount eye hooks and choice of suspension hardware such as cable, wire or chain.

How do I know how many panels / clouds I need for my space?

If you are unsure of how many panels / or clouds are recommended you can fill out our inquiry form.

Simply provide the dimensions of the room (length, width, and ceiling height) and the materials used in your room (drywall, concrete, wood, etc). Providing a couple of photos will also be helpful.

We will get back to you with recommendations.

Is there any benefit to purchasing smaller-sized panels / clouds?

There are some benefits to purchasing smaller-sized panels and clouds (products with a length and width of 48″ x 24″ and smaller):

  • Smaller panels / clouds weigh less and are easier to hang and install.
  • Smaller panels / clouds can also be delivered via UPS Ground and expedited options to your door.
  • Larger panels / clouds are more expensive to ship and must be delivered via freight companies who only unload on the street.
  • Larger panels can reduce installation time and in some cases have a reduced cost per sq. ft., so the optimal decision varies based on all of these factors.
