The Hangout, Myrtle Beach’s newest and hottest food and entertainment venue, located at Broadway on the Beach, features seating for 1,000, and a $2 million state-of-the-art sound system, but the acoustics were less than ideal in this new construction. The Hangout contacted Acoustics America to help solve the “muddy” sound problems they were experiencing.
The Challenge:
In order to give guests the ideal acoustical experience, the 6-second RT60 reverb time needed to be reduced dramatically to under 2 seconds. Acoustical panels could not be placed on the walls because of the amount of windows, and sprinklers in the ceiling had to be avoided as well, making flush mounted ceiling panels the ideal solution.
Solution:
To solve the problem, Acoustics America provided approximately 5,000 square feet of our fiberglass fabric wrapped acoustic panels featuring Classic Black acoustical fabric. Avoiding sprinklers, the 2” thick high-density panels were flush mounted to the ceiling and the RT60 time was reduced from over 6 seconds to under 1.8 seconds.
